How to make a complaint about a councillor
|
|
All councillors are required to comply with the Council’s Code of Conduct (PDF, 114kb). The Code sets out the standards of conduct that are required of councillors. From 8 May 2008 the responsibility for considering complaints that a member may have breached the Code of Conduct is moving to the standards committees of local authorities.
What this means to you
After 8 May 2008 if you want to complain about the conduct of a member of Babergh District Council or a member of one of our parish or town councils, you must submit your complaint in writing to:
Chair of the assessment sub-committee The Standards Committee c/o The Monitoring Officer Babergh District Council Corks Lane Hadleigh Ipswich IP7 6SJ
To ensure that the assessment sub-committee receives the information that it requires to consider your complaint, please complete a complaint form by clicking on the link Member Complaint Form (PDF, 109kb)
Your complaint and any request for confidentiality will be considered by the Assessment Sub-Committee using adopted criteria (PDF, 37kb).
Further information on the Standards Committee and its' work is available from the Council's Monitoring Officer. |
