Community Achievement Awards 2006

Summary

Community Achievement Award Winner 2006 - Joan Gilbertson and her contribution to the community.

Joan Gilbertson

Joan is the founder and the present co-ordinator and secretary of the Sudbury New Hope Club - a group for those who have suffered strokes, their relatives and their carers. The Club first had its origins 21 years ago entirely on Joan's initiative and since that time she has been a guide and friend to all those involved. Over the past 21 years Joan has offered Club members and their families pastoral care of an outstanding quality and has shown extraordinary administrative ability in organising the Club and negotiating with the authorities. Joan is a most resourceful person and always provides Club members with interesting and stimulating programmes for their monthly meetings.
