"It is so pleasing to hear of ordinary people going that extra mile to help others without any reward. I was particularly impressed with the number of young people's projects coming out on top this year - their commitment is amazing" commented Rex Thake, Babergh District Council's Chairman following the presentation of 24 Community Achievement Awards at Babergh's annual ceremony.

Over 40 nominations were received for the awards which is in its 16th year and aims to highlight the work of numerous individuals and groups who do so much for their local communities and schools.
The awards ceremony was held on 5th March at Stoke by Nayland Club and winners received a framed certificate, a crystal glass or plaque and a photograph of the event.
The awards were presented by Peter Tyrer, Director and Company Secretary of Prolog, who have sponsored the event for the last 7 years and Rex Thake, Chairman of the Council. The guest of honour was Mark Murphy, BBC Radio Suffolk's Breakfast programme presenter.
