PROPOSED REMOVAL OF FOUR LEYLANDII TREES SITUATED WITHIN SUDBURY CONSERVATION AREA AT 21 MELFORD ROAD, SUDBURY
The Chief Planning Control Officer to report that this matter is being referred to the Committee because the resident who proposes removal of the trees is an employee of Babergh District Council. The Monitoring Officer has considered the file and is satisfied that the matter has been assessed properly and normally.
The Council has received a notification for the removal of trees within a Conservation Area at the above site. The location of the trees is identified on the Plan attached as Paper H224. Removal of trees in Conservation Areas can only be prevented by the serving of a Tree Preservation Order (“TPO”). In this case the trees subject to the notification are entirely inappropriate and of insufficient amenity value to warrant a TPO. The decision for the Committee is limited to whether or not a TPO should be made.
The Town Council’s views are awaited and shall be reported at the meeting.
It is recommended:-
That a Tree Preservation Order not be made in respect of the trees situated within Sudbury Conservation Area at 21 Melford Road, Sudbury as identified on the plan attached as Paper H224.
