The Chairman of the Sub-Committee referred to the procedure to be followed at the hearing, a copy of which had been circulated with the Agenda.
The Head of Natural and Built Environment submitted a report (Paper K104) requesting the Sub-Committee to determine an Application under the 2003 Licensing Act in respect of Melford Hall (park and outdoor areas only), Long Melford.
The Head of Natural and Built Environment was then questioned by Members.
Inspector Crick (Suffolk Constabulary) presented his report and informed the meeting why he had not objected to the application.
Inspector Crick was then questioned by Members and the objectors.
Mr J Buckingham (Environmental Health) presented his report, contained in Appendix 2 of Paper K104.
Mr Buckingham was then questioned by Members and the objectors.
Mr P Allen (Environmental Health) presented his report, contained in Appendix 2 of Paper K104.
Mr R Taylor (Objector) presented his report to the meeting which supported his letter of objection contained in Appendix 2 to Paper K104.
Mr R Hughes (Objector) advised that he was speaking on behalf of a number of objectors and presented his report to the meeting which supported the letters of objection contained in Appendix 2 to Paper K104.
Mrs L Bixley (Objector) presented her report to the meeting which supported her letter of objection contained in Appendix 2 to Paper K104.
Mr R Tyler (Objector) presented his report to the meeting which supported his letter of objection contained in Appendix 2 to Paper K104.
The objectors were questioned by Inspector Crick and the Members.
The applicant made an opening address to the meeting in support of the application. During his presentation he indicated that he would be prepared to amend his application to overcome some concerns of the objectors.
The applicant was then questioned by Members, Inspector Crick and the objectors.
At this point in the meeting Members withdrew to enable all interested parties present at the meeting and the applicant to determine whether any consensus view/common agreement on licensing permissions may be reached, or else better defined or controlled than they are proposed at present.
The meeting then recommenced and it was noted that there had been agreement reached on certain matters, but that further discussions would be required. It was agreed that the meeting be adjourned to a future date.
RESOLVED
That the Licensing Sub-Committee hearing relating to Melford Hall (park and outdoor areas only), Long Melford be adjourned and resumed at 9.30 a.m. on Monday, 1 November 2010.
The business of the meeting was concluded at 11.15 a.m.
