A number of key features underpin the Strategy, as follows:
Personal contact
Direct contact with landowners and the public by Council officers and other representatives is encouraged.
Liaison
Close contact with interested organisations is a regular feature of the Council`s work.
Co-ordination
Liaison with other bodies on subjects such as grant aid will ensure that there is no duplication of effort and that maximum benefit is achieved.
Partnership
Joint schemes with other countryside partners is encouraged, including those where funding may be shared.
Advice
Provision of advice or pointing people in the right direction is a recurring feature.
Education and information
The provision of information and/or interpretation is seen as important to an understanding of the Babergh countryside.
Practical work
Involvement of the local community and of volunteers through financial support and advice has become increasingly important.
Concentrating effort
Support is given to projects that focus on certain areas, such as Countryside Management Projects, or to initiatives that make maximum impact, such as the Babergh Parish Tree Warden Scheme.
Grant aid
A number of schemes providing financial support for enhancement of the natural environment are run by the Council.
Countryside Sites
There are countryside sites in Hadleigh, Sudbury and Great Cornard managed by the Council for landscape, wildlife and public access. Further information can be found from Horticulture/Leisure and Community Services. |
