Council Helps Households Save Energy with a Free Home Energy Report

Babergh District Council has teamed up with the Energy Saving Trust Advice Centre Anglia to offer residents a free personalised home energy report to help them to take a step towards saving energy and preparing for the long winter months ahead.

Residents of the District who return their home energy questionnaire will receive a free personalised and tailored report showing ways they can cut down their own home energy use and make a personal commitment to saving 20% of the energy they use everyday. If you live outside the District you can still return the survey and receive a free report.

Rex Thake, Chairman of Babergh District Council said, ”This is a great opportunity for Babergh residents to find out how to become more energy efficient in their homes. Saving energy not only reduces the amount of carbon dioxide emitted into the atmosphere but can also save us money on our fuel bills. I’d encourage all Babergh households to return their questionnaires in order to receive their own home energy report. I’m looking forward to receiving my report and taking action to save energy in my home.”

John Kilgannon, Residential Team Manager at Babergh District Council commented, “Babergh Council are pleased to have teamed up with the Energy Saving Trust Advice Centre Anglia and together we hope to be able to increase energy efficiency and reduce the amount of carbon dioxide emitted by our district. Home energy checks are a great way to start saving energy, have you returned yours?”

Ashley Baxter, Director of the Energy Saving Trust Advice Centre Anglia, said, “There are simple and easy steps you can take to make your home more energy efficient to save up to £300 off your annual energy bill and help the environment too. A free home energy report should be the first step you take and will help you to identify the actions needed to make your home as energy efficient as it can be.”

“Now that the weather is turning colder it’s even more important we all do all we can to keep the winter out and our heat in, such as drawing the curtains at dusk and making sure your home is properly insulated. The Energy Saving Trust Advice Centre Anglia can help provide advice and information on grants and offers available to you as well as refer you to professional installers.”

Babergh residents will receive their free home energy check questionnaires in the post. If you live outside the District you can still return the survey and receive a free report.
