As fuel costs continue to rise, Babergh District Council is working to improve the energy efficiency of all Babergh’s homes. We aim to make households warmer and healthier, cut fuel bills and help protect the environment.
What will it cost to make my home energy efficient? And what is it worth?
Energy efficiency measures range from simple things that cost nothing through to measures like loft insulation, which cost money in the short term but pay for themselves over a few years by reducing annual fuel bills. There are many discounted offers currently available to help fund installing cavity wall and loft insulation.
The average price of all fuels has continued to increase dramatically. Spiralling fuel bills mean that you will quickly recover your initial outlay and save more money in the future. You will also benefit from the increased comfort for you and your family. Now is the time to take action.
The diagram below provides information on the costs and benefits of adopting energy efficiency measures.

- 26% of heat lost from an uninsulated home is through the roof
- Walls leak more than any other part of the home - around one third
- gaps around doors and floors account for around 11% of heat lost
