What to do if you think there are health and safety issues at your workplace.

I have concerns about health and safety issues at work, what should I do?

  • Talk to your employer, manager or staff / union representative to try to resolve the situation - these details will be listed on your company's ‘Health and Safety Law’ poster.
  • If the problem is serious, or cannot be resolved internally, you can contact the relevant enforcing authority for the premises (Babergh District Council or the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) ). This information can be found on your company's ‘Health and Safety Law’ poster.

Dealing with complaints

  • Formal complaints will be investigated, and where necessary advice will be given or enforcement action taken to ensure legal requirements are met.
  • If your complaint is about daily or weekly rest breaks, or paid annual leave entitlement, you should contact the Employment Tribunals Service Enquiry Line on 0845 795 9775 or Minicom 0845 757 3722.
