Dangerous Structures
Building Control has the responsibility for dealing with buildings and structures throughout the Council’s District which are, or could potentially be, a danger to the public.
An officer will visit the site, assess the risk and take any necessary action. This could be anything from monitoring the site to instructing that the danger be removed immediately.
To report a dangerous building or structure please contact us on the address/telephone/email below and ensure that you give clear details of the danger and site of the building or structure.
Demolitions
Where the demolition of a building over 50 cubic metres is intended, you must inform us in writing at least six weeks prior to commencement. Statutory undertakers should also be notified so that they can arrange for their services to be adequately disconnected.
To tell us about a building that will be demolished, please download and fill in a Demolition Notice (PDF, 20Kb), or you can request a copy using the contact details below.
The completed Demolition Notice must be returned to Building Control, Babergh District Council, Corks Lane, Hadleigh, Suffolk IP7 6SJ, along with a location plan of the building showing adjacent streets and buildings.
The Council will serve a counter notice giving details of various precautions that must be taken for the protection of the public and adjacent buildings. |
