Calais Street Recreation Ground

Calais Street Recreation Ground (also known as Pykenham Park or Pykenham Way Park) is an understated jewel in Hadleigh’s crown.  Hidden only one street away from the High Street in Hadleigh, many visitors are unaware of this tranquil 1.25-hectare (3 acre) park.

Residents of Hadleigh, however, are familiar with the park and it is a popular venue with all ages.  Calais Street Recreation Ground is open all the time to pedestrians, although the vehicular access to the car park is locked at dusk.

At Calais Street Recreation Ground the following facilities can be found:

  • A large, well-equipped and fun playground
  • A skateboard park
  • Two basketball courts
  • Area for informal ball games
  • Picnic tables
  • A formal flower garden
  • Plenty of benches
  • A small car park

  • Please put your litter in the bins provided – that’s why they are there.
  • If you discover any damage or are worried about anything you see in the park, please let us know.
  • If you see any vandalism or antisocial behaviour please let us know that too, but telephone the police first.
