Tips for Managing your Residual Waste
|
|
- avoid scraping loose food directly into the wheeled bin
- use leakproof bin liners in your kitchen bin and secure the bags well before placing in your wheeled bin. This is particularly important for items such as meat and fish waste
- don’t leave cooked food waste exposed where it could attract flies. Maggots will only arise if flies have been able to settle on food and lay eggs
- keep the lid of your wheeled bin closed
- disposable nappies should be placed in leakproof bags and placed in your residual bin (not your blue bin please)
- where possible, store your bin away from direct sunlight
- In the event of spillages in your wheeled bin clean out thoroughly after collection.
