Shredded Paper

By shredding paper, natural fibres are significantly shortened. This means that the paper can only be used for low quality use such as the manufacture of egg boxes. Shredded paper in large quantities can also cause machine blockages at the recycling sorting facility. The Council therefore asks the public not to put shredded paper in the blue bin.

Alternatively, shredded paper can be:

  • Put in the paper recycling banks located around the district,
  • Used for animal bedding,
  • Home composted, or
  • as a last resort put in the black household rubbish bin.
