Garden Waste

Summary

Advice regarding the disposal of garden waste; composting, brown bin, bulk bags and household waste and recycling centres.

On average, every household in Babergh currently throws away nearly 1 tonne of rubbish each year. That's close to 35,000 tonnes in all, enough to create a queue of dustcarts 22 miles long. Over one third of the rubbish we throw away could be recycled by composting.

At the moment, about 39% of the rubbish collected by the council is recycled or composted. We need to increase this to 60% by 2015 in order to meet strict Government requirements and to further reduce the environmental impact of the rubbish we create.

Please do not place any garden waste in your black bin.

Here are four ways to compost your garden waste......
