Brown Bins

Not enough space to compost all your garden waste at home?

Tired of making constant trips to the local dump?

Babergh’s Garden Waste Collection Service could well be the answer.

For an annual fee of £40 (£20.00 for those in receipt of Council Tax Benefit, Housing Benefit, Pension Guaranteed Credit, or Job Seekers Allowance), residents receive the use of a 240 Litre Brown Bin and fortnightly collections of garden waste throughout the year (with just one break over the Christmas period).

The garden waste collection service was introduced as an optional service across the Babergh District in 2003, with the number of households subscribing to the scheme continuing to grow steadily year upon year. There are now over 7,000 subscribers to the scheme and over 3,000 tonnes of garden waste has been turned into compost in the past 12 months. This is all waste that could otherwise have ended up in landfill sites.
