Poplar Road Shops, Great Cornard Redevelopment Scheme

Summary

Information on the Poplar Road redevelopment scheme in Great Cornard

This major regeneration scheme is being brought forward and monitored by the North Cornard Regeneration Group, made up of Babergh Councillors and officers, Parish Council representatives, members of the local community and representatives from the adjacent Pot Kiln School.

Planning Permission was granted for the redevelopment of the Poplar Road shops in November 2004.  There will be 44 new homes built on the site, and all of these will be affordable.  There will also be 6 new shop units.

The site was transferred to Suffolk Heritage Housing Association on 3 September 2009 and work started on site in 2010.  The scheme is being constructed in phases with the First Phase due to complete in March 2012 and the Second and Final Phase completing in July 2013.
