Stour House, Sudbury

Summary

Information on the redevelopment of Stour house, Sudbury.

Following a review of how Babergh responds to the needs of homeless households the council decided to close its Homeless Persons Reception Centre at Stour House, Sudbury.

Our response to the immediate needs of homeless people will be to provide a range of self-contained temporary and permanent housing.

Part of this response will be to provide high quality self-contained accommodation at Stour House.  This will be converted into two parts.  A group of self-contained 1 and 2 bed flats and a separate scheme of 5 x 1 bed flats for those needing a more supported environment.

The project is being undertaken in partnership with Orwell Housing Association. Planning permission was granted in January 2008. A bid for Housing Corporation Social Housing Grant was successful in February 2008 and it is planned to start work on site in August/September 2008.
