Wattisham Road, Bildeston Redevelopment Scheme
Following a review of Babergh’s property and landholdings in 2008 it was identified that 45-51 Wattisham Road, Bildeston had potential to be redeveloped, and that the four existing properties could be replaced with eight units.
This proposal has been approved by the Council's Housing Panel, and the site will provide a range of house types for affordable rent, which are designed to meet local housing needs and provide a balanced and sustainable community. This includes a wheelchair standard bungalow which is being purpose built to meet the needs of a local family.
All four tenants have now been rehoused, and planning approval was granted for the scheme in Dec 2009. The Capital funding for the scheme was secured in February 2010 and the site is now being transferred to Orwell Housing Association at a discount to ensure the scheme is financially viable. The project is due to be start on site in April 2010.
