“SPEAK YOUR MIND” BABERGH URGES RESIDENTS

Summary

Babergh District Council is organising its widest ever consultation with the public as to the future provision of services in advance of its third annual State of the District Debate.

Babergh District Council is organising its widest ever consultation with the public as to the future provision of services in advance of its third annual State of the District Debate.

In order to give as many residents of all backgrounds the chance to have their say, Babergh is organising three separate Residents’ Forums in different parts of the district (Sudbury, Hadleigh and Stutton) as well as depositing pre-paid postcards at a number of public locations so that residents can voice their views in the way best suited to them. School pupils will also have the chance to contribute through questionnaires distributed to schools.

“We are trying to pull together as many and as representative a series of responses as possible so that a broad range of views can be considered as part of the State of the District Debate” explained Babergh’s Policy Advisor, Simon Pitts.

On 26th September, individuals and representatives will be brought together to discuss where Babergh should be focussing its main efforts and how this should be paid for. The results will be set out in a report to be considered by Babergh Councillors at the State of the District Debate on 18th October.

Simon Pitts continued “we are hoping for a high level of interest over the next couple of months, with as many residents as possible having the chance to put forward their ideas and speak their mind. So if you have something to say about our services and plans for the future – you can say it to us”.

Babergh has also organised a separate public meeting in Hadleigh on 31st August at the Town Hall, Hadleigh to discuss the specific issue of Hadleigh Pool and whether a new pool is affordable

The State of the District Debate is discussed in Report E166 (PDF, 137kb)
