Babergh District Council’s Repairs team were quick off the mark this week when garages owned by the Council were badly damaged in the high winds experienced over the weekend.
Roofing materials and brickwork from the garage block were blown into neighbouring gardens, with one property being struck by flying debris. Fortunately nobody was harmed at the site of the incident in Raydon Way, Great Cornard.
Council officials were made aware of the problem on Saturday afternoon and immediately despatched the Chief Building Control Officer to the scene to assess the extent of the damage. Babergh District Council’s Repairs Manager, Ken Travers, said “We made sure that the affected area was made safe and carried out a full assessment of the damage. We have spoken with the tenants affected by the damage, and advised them that repairs will be carried out in the next 3 to 4 weeks.”
Major repair works will be needed to reinstate three garages. |
