Babergh District Council has been assessed as a "Good" Council by a team of independent Audit Commission inspectors. In 8 of the 10 key categories, Babergh’s strengths were judged to outweigh any weaknesses.
The Commission’s report concluded that “Babergh District Council is a good Council. It has a clear ambition to improve services for local people across a diverse district.”
Colin Spence, Babergh’s Vice-Chairman of the Strategy Committee, said “we are pleased with this assessment of our present performance and future plans. It is a great endorsement of what Councillors and staff have been doing to improve the quality of life for the district’s residents. But, like any organization, there is always room for improvement and we are putting together an Improvement Plan which we will discuss and agree with the Audit Commission in February”.
