Over 200 local people have already signed up to attend one of Babergh District Council’s three Residents’ Forums. The Forums provide the chance for individuals to voice their views about Babergh’s service priorities and future plans and will feed into the Council’s State of the District Event at the end of September.
For the first time, Babergh has organised the forums in different locations so that as many people can attend as possible. The meetings, under the heading of ‘not all minds think alike – speak yours” are being held at Sudbury Town Hall (5th September), Hadleigh Town Hall (6th September) and Stutton Village Hall (8th September). All are due to start at 7.30pm.
“We wanted to have these meetings in the west, centre and east of the district – to make them as easy to get to as possible” explained Policy Advisor, Simon Pitts.
“Listening to the views of local residents and discussing with them as to how they would like to see Babergh delivering its service priorities and managing future Council Tax increases goes to the very core of our listening role”
“The far higher than expected number of people who’ve already said they want to come to the Forums shows that Babergh residents feel they can talk to their council about their concerns and aspirations”.
The views expressed at the Residents’ Forums will be considered at the State of the District Event on 26th September, where individuals and representatives of other organisations will explore where Babergh should be focussing its resources. The outcomes of this event will be set out in a report to be considered by Babergh Councillors at the State of the District Debate on 18th October”.
Anyone wishing to attend one of the Babergh Residents’ Forums or wanting more information should contact Jill Barton, Corporate Support Officer on (01473) 826674.
