WE NAME THIS TRUST …

Summary

Babergh District Council has today revealed the name of the new Trust for its leisure facilities in Sudbury and Hadleigh.

Babergh District Council has today revealed the name of the new Trust for its leisure facilities in Sudbury and Hadleigh.

On 8th September users of the facilities,  together with staff representatives, met  to discuss the suggestions received from members of the public and staff.  After careful consideration, the South Suffolk Leisure Trust was unanimously voted as the name for the new leisure trust.  Penny Arnold, Trust Project Manager explained “We had some terrific suggestions with over 70 ideas put forward.  Narrowing down the selection to a shortlist was not an easy task   After careful consideration, South Suffolk Leisure Trust felt appropriate as it will not narrow the scope of the organisation for activities or values in the future”.

Babergh District Council are still keen to hear from anyone who is interested in applying to become a Trustee for the new Trust.   “As with the naming of the Trust, we have had an excellent response so far” said Penny “but we are still looking to hear from residents who feel they may like to be involved in the future provision of leisure facilities in the Babergh district” she  added.

Residents are being urged to “Step Up to The Mark” and become a Community Trustee, with applications particularly welcome from those with experience in business, health or education, or those with additional skills such as finance, legal or personnel.

An information evening for potential trustees is being held on 29th September, with interested parties having until 6th October to submit their applications for consideration.  Places at the information evening are limited.  If you would like to attend, or if you would like to receive a pack about becoming a Trustee, please contact Penny Arnold on (01473) 825873 or email penny.arnold@babergh.gov.uk.
