Babergh District Councillors have elected the new chairmen of its Committees for the next 12 months.
At a full council meeting, held on April 11, Councillors voted for the following as Chairmen of their respective Committees:
- Cllr Rex Thake, Chairman of the Council
- Cllr Jennie Jenkins, Vice-Chairman of the Council
- Cllr Nick Ridley, Chairman of the Strategy Committee
- Cllr Jennie Jenkins, Chairman of Overview & Scrutiny (Stewardship)
- Cllr Christopher Hunt, Chairman of Overview & Scrutiny (Community Services)
- Cllr Clive Arthey, Chairman of Development
- Cllr Brian Lazenby, Chairman of Licensing and Appeals
- Cllr Desmond Keane, Chairman of Hadleigh & District Swimming Pool Trust Committee
These experienced Councillors have spent dozens of years in representing Babergh’s residents and their best interests.
Cllr Thake said: “I am delighted to be taking over as Chairman of the Council and am looking forward to working with all the newly-elected chairs over the next 12 months.
“We are facing some challenging times ahead and I hope that, regardless of politics and geographical groupings, that everyone will feel able to work together on these.
“I am sure that all will do their utmost to represent their wards and residents to the best of their abilities.” ENDS
