Babergh District Council’s district-wide tree survey programme moves its attention to Belle Vue Park, Sudbury, during the next few weeks.
Work is due to start on more than 20 trees and other planting that has been earmarked for maintenance or removal in the park, which is managed by Babergh District Council, from today (Feb 18).
Some trees that have been found to be dangerous, or inhibiting the growth of other better-quality trees will be felled. Others will have branches removed and many more will have general maintenance work carried out.
The work to the trees and shrubbery will be carried out at locations around the park.
Work to removes hedgerows near the skateboard, basketball and tennis court area of the park will also be carried out.
David Pizzey, Babergh’s Aboricultural Officer, said: “As part of Babergh District Council’s new systematic tree inspection, maintenance and surgery regime, a detailed examination of each tree in question has been carried out.
“The scheme is designed to remove problem trees, allow other trees space to develop, undertake basic maintenance needs and enhance the overall quality for people who use the park.
“This is part of a district-wide tree survey programme which started a few years ago in Shotley and is working its way across Babergh.”
Maps of the areas where work is planned are available to view in Babergh’s offices in Hadleigh. Members of the public who would like to look at them are asked to call Jeanita Buckle, Babergh’s Administrative Officer (Horticulture), on 01473 826654 to arrange an appointment. ENDS
