Kind-hearted staff at Sudbury’s Tourist Information Centre are marking their 20th anniversary with a special fundraising boost for a local charity.
Centre Manager Shirley Cates, and her team, plan to mark this year’s landmark by nominating Sudbury Newstalk for the Blind as their designated charity for a year.
The team have numerous money-raising ideas up their sleeve but their first event is a second-hand book sale, being held in the TIC in Sudbury’s Town Hall, on March 6th - World Book Day.
All proceeds from this event, and the other events planned throughout the year, will be donated to Newstalk.
Shirley Cates, Babergh’s Manager at the Sudbury centre, said: “We decided to choose Newstalk as they are a local charity and prehaps one that doesn’t have the high profile which they deserve.
“Newstalk provides such a vital service to blind and partially-sighted people from our area that we all felt they should be the benefactors of our special fundraising events.”
Mrs Cates is also calling on people to help their cause and donate any unwanted books for the event.
To make a donation, or to donate a book to the sale, please visit the TIC, in Gaol Lane, Sudbury, in person – or call on (01787) 374314 for more information. ENDS
