Budding athletes of all ability levels from Babergh are being encouraged to take part in this year’s Suffolk Youth Games.
Information and leaflets have already been sent to all schools and leisure centres in the district but leisure bosses at Babergh District Council are urging everyone who hasn’t yet applied to register their interest.
This year’s games will be taking place on Sunday, July 12th at Abbeycroft Leisure Centre, Bury St Edmunds.
Sports include athletics, disabled athletics, badminton, basketball, hockey, tag rugby, table tennis and tennis.
The youth games is one of the regions leading sports events for young people and is aimed at boys and girls who enjoy taking part in sport - but have not represented their county, region or country. The games are also open to disabled boys and girls.
To be eligible for the Babergh team you need to be in school years 5-11 and live, or go to school, in Babergh.
Babergh District Council will be running training sessions beginning May 18th at various locations throughout the area.
Stephanie Lloyd, Babergh’s Leisure Inclusion Officer, said: “This is an incredible opportunity for youngsters, able and disabled, to take part in a sporting event that is staged on such a big scale.
“It gives the youngsters an exciting end goal and a chance to compete against other young people in the county.”
