Tenants across Babergh and Mid Suffolk are being urged to come forward and stand for the Joint Housing Board - and the closing date of nominations just four days away (Feb 3)
With over 40 requests coming in for application packs, tenants don’t have long left to apply.
The Joint Housing Board, which will be made up of six councillors and six tenants, is the first joint Housing Board in the country with tenants having an equal vote to Elected Members.
All tenants can stand for election. Those who stand as a candidate will be asked to write a ‘mini-manifesto’. The manifesto will contain information about them and what they see as the priorities for the new Board.
All tenants will take part in a postal ballot to elect a tenant to represent their ward. This will take place in February.
Tenants and Leaseholders who would like to find out about the Housing Board and to request a pack to stand as a candidate can contact: Tarina Gregory on 01449 724759 or email: tarina.gregory@midsuffolk.gov.uk
So calling all tenants - please don’t stand back and think someone else will do it. If you think you can make a difference, you probably can.
