| Competent Persons Schemes were introduced by the Government to allow individuals and enterprises to self-certify that their work complies with Building Regulations as an alternative to submitting a Building Regulation application.
These schemes cover the following works:

- Installation of gas or oil fired burning appliances
- Electrical installations
You should always ensure that if your installer is not registered under the competent person scheme, then a Building Regulation application is made to your Local Authority.
