Changes to Planning Application Forms

Summary

The Department for Communities and Local Government launched a standard planning application form in England called 1App.
The Department for Communities and Local Government launched a standard planning application form in England called 1App.

From 6 April 2008, the Standard Planning Application Form (1App) replaced all existing types of planning application forms (except minerals) previously used by local authorities across England.

In addition to the standard planning application form (or 1App), local planning authorities have been encouraged to prepare, consult and adopt their own local list of requirements based on those suggested by government.

Babergh has therefore produced its own local validation document to assist applicants with the preparation and submission of applications: downloadable Local Validation Requirements document (PDF, 305Kb)

This was approved for consultation purposes by the Development Committee at its meeting on 9 January 2008.  Consultation was undertaken with various national and local bodies, town and parish councils, architects and agents, between 18 January 2008 and 3 March 2008.  The document was formally adopted by the Council on 15 April 2008.

Planning applications can be submitted online through the Planning Portal

If you would rather complete a paper copy of the form you can print them from the Planning Portal's choose and print forms section

Alternatively call Planning Customers Services on 01473 825858 who will be happy to assist you in chooing the correct form, and sending you either a paper copy or an email containing the forms you need. You can also collect forms from our reception area at the Council Offices, Corks Lane, Hadleigh IP7 6SJ.

Once completed, they can then be delivered to us by hand, email or post.

The new online version of 1App has been designed to make the planning system simpler, faster and easier to use.

Please note that planning applications are now being scanned and the images will be published on the Council's website.
