Our policy is to respect and protect the privacy of anyone who visits our website. Are the online forms secure?

All our online forms are held with a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). This means that the information you provide us is encrypted and protected as it is transmitted over the web.

When you click on a link to one of our online forms, you will be notified that you are about to view pages over a secure connection. You must click “OK” to open the form. When you are on the form page, a little locked padlock or key will appear in the bottom right corner of the screen and our web address (URL) will begin with "https:".

We will continue to assess new technology for protecting information, and when appropriate, upgrade our information security systems.

Extra precautions to take when completing forms in a public place

You share responsibility for protecting your personal information. 

If you are using the online application service in a public place (library, internet cafe, etc) please ensure that you:

  • Are aware of your surroundings, of people viewing your computer screen and documents.
  • Do not leave the computer, workstation or terminal unattended while completing the application. If you must leave, on some forms you can save the form to complete later. If that option is not available, cancel the application using the Cancel button and exit from the form or if there isn't a cancel button clear your browser's cache and close down your browser.
  • Always end the session by either selecting the Cancel or Exit buttons. Clear your browser's cache and close down your browser.
  • If you print a copy of your application be certain to collect all copies from the printer and keep them in a safe place.  Shred any copies that you do not need.

Where is the information held?

Any information obtained via this website is held electronically at Babergh District Council, Corks Lane, Hadleigh, Suffolk, IP7 6SJ. We take the normal precaution of backing up all data so that any loss may he restored with the least possible delay.

What other security measures are in place?

All of our employees and data processors who have access to your personal data and/or are associated with the processing of that data are contractually obliged to respect the confidentiality of your personal data.

We have put in place appropriate physical and electronic measures, security policies and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the personal data that we have under our control from unauthorised access, improper use, alteration, unlawful or accidental destruction or accidental loss.

What about the Guestbook page?

You must not post any material onto the site which is defamatory, obscene or blasphemous, which infringes third party rights or which could in any other way give rise to criminal or civil liability in any jurisdiction. We shall have no liability for any such material. We may in our absolute discretion remove any material if, in our view, it falls or might fall within those categories or is otherwise inappropriate.

It may be necessary to moderate postings on the guestbook. In this case you will be asked to send your comments to the Guestbook Administrator.

Our website contains links to other websites, including those of government departments, public authorities and of other organisations (both private and voluntary).
