Annual Electoral Canvass

Posted by Robert Carmichael on 29 September 2016 | Comments

Each year we send a form to every property in the area to help us to produce an accurate register of all the electors. In order to know who is eligible to register to vote, we need to know who lives at every address. This form is for us to collect this information.

So far we have had a fantastic response from the electors of Babergh and Mid Suffolk; however there are still a number of households who have not returned the forms.

Why is it important

We need to be sure that there is nobody else living at your address who may lose out if the form is not returned, including any 16 or 17 year olds. You are legally obliged to provide this information.

We use the information to create the registers for each election , enabling you to vote in elections such as the general Election and national and local referendums, so if you want your voice to be heard you need to return the form to us as quickly as possible.

Being on the electoral register can also help you in getting a credit score with the credit reference agencies.

What you need to do now?

Complete the form which only takes a few minutes and send back in the pre-paid envelope, alternatively if there are no changes you can go online confirm the details using the instructions on the form.

If you have any question regarding this form please contact electoral registration on 01473 825713 (within Babergh) orĀ 01449 724678 (within Mid Suffolk)
