A village hall at the heart of its rural community is celebrating after a £32,000 renovation – with help from Mid Suffolk District Council
Earlier this year, Battisford Village Hall benefited from new flooring - replacing rotten joists with a new surface and underfloor heating, new panelling and complete redecoration.
The work was made possible by grants from Mid Suffolk District Council, Suffolk County Council, Battisford, Combs and Ringshall Parish Councils, Stowmarket Town Council, The Geoffrey Burton Trust and the National Lottery.
The hall, in Straight Road, is already home to a number of local clubs and organisations, including Battisford Preschool, the village snooker club, carpet bowls club, gardening club and yoga classes. The refurbishment means that now even more users can enjoy the modern facilities.
A recent open day gave representatives from all the groups a chance to celebrate together with visitors from Battisford History Group, Battisford Parish Council and the local church. Mid Suffolk District councillor Dan Pratt - ward councillor for Battisford and Ringshall - was also amongst the guests.
Chairman of the Battisford Village Hall Committee, Dean Williams, said:
"Everyone has worked so hard to ensure that our village hall remains at the heart of our community. On behalf of everyone who uses the hall, I'd like to thank all our supporters - in particular those organisations and individuals who helped us fund the work and to our local volunteers who put so much into keeping Battisford a busy and thriving rural village."
