The Local Poll conducted in Hadleigh, asking “Would you like the current Councillors of Hadleigh Town Council to resign”, has resulted in a Yes vote.
The result was announced by Returning Officer Arthur Charvonia, Chief Executive of Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils, after the count immediately followed the closing of polls this evening at Hadleigh Guild Hall. The result was announced at 10.00pm on a turnout of 743, or 11%. The votes cast were:
Yes: 489 votes
No: 252 votes
Spoiled: 2 ballots
The poll, which asked “Would you like the current Councillors of Hadleigh Town Council to resign (due to having no confidence in them due to the Town Council being dysfunctional in their current form)”, was held between 4pm and 9pm on Thursday 28 June, having been called for at a Town Meeting held on 24 May.
The result of the poll is not legally binding and it will fall to the Town Councillors to decide how to respond.
The poll was facilitated by Babergh District Council as the local electoral authority.
