Following the success of their first public Question & Answer event in Sudbury, the Leader and Deputy Leader of Babergh District Council are planning to hold more.
Babergh District Council Leader Cllr John Ward and Deputy Leader Cllr Jan Osborne held their first event in Sudbury on Saturday 28 April, giving residents the chance to speak directly to the council’s leadership and ask their questions. After a great response, plans are being drawn up for a second event this summer in Shotley, and a third later this year in Hadleigh, allowing Babergh residents more opportunities to talk to the council’s leaders.
These plans follow the positive response to the first event, which saw many people come into Sudbury Town Hall to discuss their concerns, priorities and views with Cllrs Ward and Osborne.
Cllr John Ward, Leader of Babergh District Council, said: “Thank you to everyone who took the time to speak with us last weekend: we hope they all left with a better understanding of who we are and what Babergh District Council does. The turnout was so good it proved the demand is there for this sort of direct engagement, and we plan to hold more of these events later this year.”
Cllr Jan Osborne, Deputy Leader of Babergh District Council, said: “It was wonderful to meet so many people with a real interest in what Babergh does, and being able to help them and answer their questions made my day. I’m looking forward to hosting more question and answer sessions for residents.”
Full details of the Shotley and Hadleigh Question & Answer events will be publicised later this year.
