Severe Weather Emergency Protocol activated to support anyone sleeping rough in the districts

Posted by Communications on 21 November 2022 | Comments

Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils has its Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) today 21 November, due to the severe weather.

Anyone homeless tonight or rough sleeping will be offered emergency provision of accommodation.

Any resident at risk or spots anyone sleeping rough should contact StreetLink or call Housing Solutions on 0300 123 4000.

The trigger for activating the SWEP protocol is when the councils believe the weather is severe enough, based on forecasts by the Met Office, that there is a risk to those sleeping rough. The aim of the protocol is to safeguard rough sleepers and provide them with a safe place to stay
