Biodiversity Checking Service (Pilot)

Some low-impact applications require supporting information on biodiversity constraints issues, which can become a reason for invalidation if these documents are not supplied or accurate.

To assist with this, we are working in partnership with SBIS to provide a pre-submission checking service. The current pilot will run for six months as of March 2017 and includes;

  • Pre-submission checks on biodiversity survey/assessment and mitigation measures
  • BCS Certificate supplied for submission with other documents to LPA

What are the benefits?

  • Provides certainty about biodiversity information requirements
  • Avoids delays and speeds up planning process
  • Underpins lawful decision by Local Planning Authority based on high quality information (required under British Standard for Biodiversity -BS42020 Sec. 8.1)
