The Babergh and Mid Suffolk districts are home to some of the most important and unique listed buildings in the UK.
Our historic environment is a precious, limited resource; a powerful reminder of the life and works of earlier generations.
The beauty within many of our towns and villages is made stronger by these listed buildings.
Our districts are also home to 60 Conservation Areas. These are areas designated by the local planning authority. They are designated for their special architectural or historic interest, the character or appearance of which is desirable to preserve or enhance.
The aim of the Heritage service at the Councils is to provide help and guidance to owners of historic buildings within Conservation Areas. They help owners conserve and enhance our built heritage and increase public awareness and appreciation of the historic environment.
