Annual Monitoring Report (AMR)

Local planning authorities are required to produce an Annual Monitoring Report (AMR). Covering the period from 1st April to 31st March its main purpose is to provide an update on progress toward the implementation of the LDF, monitoring information on a range of national and local indicators and, a review of the use and effectiveness of policies set out in Development Plan Documents or, where still appropriate, the Local Plan.

Another important aspect is the Councils' stated position on housing land supply which is also set out in the AMRs.

More recently, the withdrawal of guidance on local plan monitoring and the subsequent changes that are being introduced through the Localism Act, mean that it is now a matter for each local planning authority to decide what to include in their AMRs, whilst still ensuring that they are prepared in accordance with relevant legislation.
