Babergh and Mid Suffolk Joint Local Plan - Full Council Draft 2019

The Babergh and Mid Suffolk Joint Local Plan - Preferred Options Consultation (Reg 18) was approved by Babergh Full Council on 25th June 2019 and Mid Suffolk Full Council on 27th June 2019. To view the Draft Joint Local Plan - Preferred Options Consultation document considered by the Councils please follow the link below. The Councils will consult on the Draft Joint Local Plan later in July 2019, and further information will become available in due course.

The Joint Local Plan Consultation (Reg 18) closed at 5pm on Friday 10th November 2017.

The Councils are undertaking a thorough review of its adopted policies and allocations which will result in a new Joint Local Plan to guide development until 2036 in Babergh and Mid Suffolk.

From 21st August 2017 to 5pm on 10th November 2017 the Councils consulted on the Babergh and Mid Suffolk Joint Local Plan - Consultation Document (Reg 18 Stage). This is an important document which will provide the strategy for the growth of the Districts, setting out what and where development will take place up to 2036. Residents, local businesses and stakeholders are being asked to have their say on the new Babergh and Mid Suffolk Joint Local Plan. Once adopted, the new Joint Local Plan will replace the existing local planning policies for both Babergh and Mid Suffolk.


As part of the consultation the Councils held a series of drop-in events. All events ran from 2pm - 7pm*:

  • Elmswell - 2nd October, The Blackbourne Community Centre, Blackbourne Road, Elmswell, IP30 9GY
  • Stowmarket - 4th October, United Reformed Church, Ipswich Street, Stowmarket IP14 1AD
  • Eye - 5th October, Eye Community Centre, Magdalen Street, Eye, IP23 7AJ
  • Tattingstone - 9th October, Tattingstone Village Hall, School Road, Tattingstone IP9 2NA
  • Hadleigh - 11th October, Hadleigh Town Hall, Market Place, Hadleigh IP7 5DN
  • Sudbury - 12th October, Sudbury Town Hall, Old Market Place, Sudbury CO10 1TL


*The events in Sudbury and Stowmarket also included additional special “Vision For Prosperity” events for the two towns.
