Parking Strategy

In Summer 2021, Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils began developing a parking strategy that would outline both on-street and off-street parking provision for the next 20 years. Support towards, and expertise regarding, the development of the strategy was also provided by 2020 Consultancy.

We want to continue to develop a parking strategy that:

  • aligns with our vision to shape the future growth of our districts
  • sets out opportunities to enhance the quality of the local environment
  • provides a prospectus for investment

The strategy will also reflect national policy to consider:

  • the future of our town centres and high streets
  • sustainable travel
  • transport usage patterns across the districts

How can I take part?

Public engagement has - and continues to be - a key focus.

Thanks to all the feedback we received during our initial survey in 2021 about your parking experiences, we now have a draft parking strategy.

We would now like to receive more feedback before we finalise it.

You can find details about how to get involved on this webpage.

Online survey

To ensure our strategy is relevant, and meets both our current and future aims, there are a number of recommended actions for you to comment on.

Parking affects everybody - so whether you drive a car or not - we'd really appreciate it if you could spare just 15 minutes to share your thoughts with us:
