We always want to encourage households to generate as little waste as possible.

Visit the Suffolk Recycles website for useful information on how to reduce and reuse your waste, including:

• cloth nappies
• refill shop locator
• repair cafes and groups
• reusable period products

Also, visit the Food Savvy website for hints and tips on how you can reduce food waste, and make use of leftovers, including recipe ideas.

Household and garden waste, plus large and electrical items, can be taken to a Suffolk Recycling Centre, which are managed by Suffolk County Council.

There are also community-run recycling centres within the districts:

• Brome Community Recycling Centre
• The Peninsula Community Recycling Centre in Chelmondiston

Plus, there are more than 1,000 recycling banks in Suffolk for a wide range of materials, including:

• batteries
• electrical items
• textiles and clothing

Large and electrical items can be taken to a Suffolk Recycling Centre

Or, we can collect and dispose of larger household items for you via our bulky item collection service, including:

• electrical items, such as TVs, monitors and computers
• fridges and freezers
• furniture
• sofas and armchairs
• washing machines, tumble dryers and dishwashers

Which type of waste won't fit into the bin?

• Food waste - grey bin
• Recycling - blue or blue-lidded bin
• Paper and card - green-lidded bin
• Refuse (general rubbish) - black bin
• Garden waste - brown bin
