East Bergholt Conservation Area Consultation

Public Consultation Now Open - Monday 11 May 2026 to 5pm Monday 8 June 2026

Babergh District Council is consulting on proposed updates to the conservation area in the parish of East Bergholt. The proposed updated boundary designation is supported by a Conservation Area Appraisal (CAA) document that defines and evaluates the special interest of the study area and identifies issues and opportunities within the area to better reveal its significance.

The proposed designated area and supporting CAA have been drafted to inform future change, development and design around four character areas within the Village, so that their sensitivities and unique character can be preserved and enhanced in accordance with the Council’s legal duties.

A public consultation on the proposed updated conservation area boundary and CAA will run for a period of 28 days from Monday 11 May 2026 to Monday 8 June 2026 and the Council is keen to hear your views.

The proposals will also be put for consideration to a public meeting in the parish of East Bergholt, where the views of attendees can be recorded. This will take place at The Lambe School, 1-3 Gaston Street, East Bergholt, Colchester, CO7 6SD, between 10am and 2pm on Saturday 23 May 2026.

All comments received within the consultation period will be carefully considered to help us to finalise the CAA and confirm that it is appropriate to make the designation.
